C-130 Rolling Down the Strip

240 Soldiers on a one way trip.
Mission top secret, destination unknown,
Don't give a fuck if we're going home.




10th Mountain Division. Rapid deployabke, harsh environment specialized, rugged, high-speed infantry. Fort Drum, New York, the 'frozen north.' Sounds like a load of fun. None of the other NCOs have anything nice to say about Drum, but everything to say about the unit. 10th Mountain does some good work. Finally, a unit with pride and honor.

I'll be deploying in November. Talk about rapid deployment. I'll have a month getting used to the climate at Drum, then sent to the Middle East where it's balls hot. What the hell? Needs of the Army, and Uncle Sam has my ass for nineteen more years.

Name's Vern. I draw for fun on my free time. I've been drawing since I was two. I make my living as a 25U Signal Support Systems Specialist for the US Army. I just graduated as the distinguished honor graduate of Fort Gordon's Signal School and will soon be stationed at Fort Drum as part of the 10th Mountain Division.

Life of a Soldier is crazy, but I love it. I shoot stuff and blow stuff up and occassionally set up in antenna on top of big ass mountains so we can communicate with other people who are shooting and blowing stuff up. And it pays pretty well, believe me!

I believe that hard work and perseverance is the ONLY way to get what you want. I also believe that sacrifice is the greatest virtue. There isn't really much else to say.
